Edit text in a PDF online
Click a line of existing text and rewrite it — no need to convert the PDF to Word and back. Everything happens in your browser and the file is never uploaded.
How it works
- Open the PDF Click "Choose a PDF", or drop the file onto the page or paste it.
- Pick "Edit existing text" and click a line The editor detects the line and puts a text box in its place, matching font size and color as closely as it can. Just type the new text.
- Use find & replace for many changes Press ⌘/Ctrl+F, enter the word to find and its replacement, then replace one at a time or across the whole document.
- Export Click "Export PDF" to get the edited file. Chinese text is embedded as real text, so it stays selectable, copyable and searchable.
Good to know
- It works by covering the original with the background color and writing the new text on top; gradient or textured backgrounds are matched from the surrounding pixels. The original text stays in the file underneath, so this is not redaction.
- Only PDFs with a text layer can be edited. A scan or image-only PDF has no text to pick, and there is no OCR yet.
- New text uses common sans, serif or monospace fonts; it does not reproduce the exact font of the original.
FAQ
Can I change text that is already in a PDF?
Yes. Choose "Edit existing text" and click a line to rewrite it, or use find & replace to change a word across the document.
Is the old text really gone after editing?
No. The editor covers the original and writes new text over it, so the original stays in the file underneath. To remove sensitive information for good, rasterize the page separately.
